Let yourself be seduced by the beauty of Cilaos' surroundings, originality of its inhabitants, and its culinary specialties. The mountain town of Cilaos is the starting point for many mountain hikes in the surrounding area. It is the perfect starting point for a hike to the 3,070 m high Piton des Neiges, the highest mountain of the island and the highest point in the Indian Ocean. Cilaos is known for its hot springs and thermal baths, spectacular hiking trails, breathtaking canyons and gorges, and the only French vineyards in the southern hemisphere.

Adventure Through Cilaos!

Your day starts very early in the morning; between 7:00 am and 7:30 am, you will leave the hotel and head south. The first stop will take you south of Saint-Leu to the natural phenomena, the Souffleur geyser. Continue your adventure through the St. Louis region. Beautiful views are guaranteed during this drive: pass by a sugar cane factory, a mosque, an Indian temple and beautiful mountain scenery lined with typical Creole houses and lush gardens.

Sit back and enjoy the enchanting area: the picturesque villages of Peter Both and Palmiste Roughe, steep rocky landscapes and lush green mountain peaks. Finally, you will reach the charming village of Cilaos. Cilaos is located about 3000m above sea level and is known for its hot springs and thermal baths, spectacular hiking trails, breathtaking canyons and gorges, and the only French vineyard in the southern hemisphere. Enjoy the fantastic panorama from La Roche Merveilleuse viewpoint, and afterwards visit a craft exhibition.

Before returning to your accommodation, enjoy a delicious Creole lunch and make one final stop at L'Étang-Salé. At 05:00 pm, you will arrive back at your hotel.
