After a rich breakfast at the hotel’s buffet, your tour guide will be waiting you for a discovery tour of Muscat. Life in the east, settlements, magnificent mosques and many green spaces make up this capital of millions. Your first stop on the city tour is the magnificent Sultan Qaboos Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and the main mosque of the Gulf state of Oman. Completed in 2001, the Sultan Qaboos Mosque is one of the most impressive and important sights in the country. In addition to its white marble facade and its enormous murals with floral patterns, the mosque boasts a beautiful garden. Stroll along numerous bushes, temple trees and other deciduous trees and take in the imposing structure. And don’t forget to take some spectacular photos of the "Great Mosque".
Next on your itinerary is the embassy district, where you can catch a glimpse of the largest opera house in the Arab world, the Royal Opera House. Together with numerous locals (called Omanis), you will stroll through the busy streets until you reach the old town and Muscat's harbor, where you will visit the fish and vegetable market. Experience Oman in its unfiltered state. Watch the traders and buyers haggling and see how the freshly caught fish from the Gulf of Oman are scaled and taken apart.
Afterwards, today’s journey leads you to the Muttrah Souk, one of the oldest markets of Arabia. Varied, colorful and bustling, this traditional market is the perfect place to dive into the world of spices and haggle for a typical souvenir - it is really worth it!
After your first impressions of Oman, visit the Al Alam Palace. Built in 1972, the royal palace is one of the most famous buildings in Oman and nowadays serves exclusively representative purposes. Although Sultan's Palace is not open to the public, it is definitely worth a visit and beautiful to look at. Its facade shines in bright blue and gold, surrounded by the Jalali and Mirani forts built by the Portuguese.
From here you can easily get to the Bait Al Zubair Museum. Have you always wanted to learn about Omani culture, customs and traditions? Then this is the right place for you! Learn everything about the history of the Gulf state of Oman and its typical clothes, weapons and traditional jewelry.
Around noon, you will depart for the luxurious Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah - Al Bandar hotel complex. The Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah is situated in a dreamy setting, on a 500-meter-long private beach. It offers a wide range of first-class international and local dishes. After breakfast at the hotel, leave the megacity of Muscat and drive over the mountain ranges of the eastern Hajar Mountains to the fishing village of Fins. Relax on the white sandy beach and enjoy a refreshing dip in the Arabian Sea surrounded by magnificent scenery. After refreshments, continue to the Wadi Shab riverbed - where a hike through a gorge with small date plantations and steep rock walls awaits you. Afterwards, look forward to the pools filled with crystal clear water and enjoy yourself here.
On the way to the Wahiba Desert, stop in the harbor town of Sur and visit the dhow shipyard. Learn here how traditional boats are still made today without nails or glue, according to ancient custom.
After the short stop in Sur, continue along the coast and pass small fishing villages, colorful shimmering stone fields and golden sand plains. Always keep your camera handy: With a little luck, camels, goats and donkeys will cross your path.
In the course of the afternoon, you will reach your destination for today, the 1000 Nights Camp in the middle of the Wahiba Desert.

2 nights at 1000 Nights Camp *****(or similar) in Ameer Tent with breakfast and dinner, Wahiba Desert, Oman.
In the morning, take the opportunity to fully enjoy the silence of the desert. Later, you will have the opportunity to experience Omani hospitality while having lunch with a Bedouin family.
Just a few kilometers from the Wahiba Desert is the famous oasis known as Wadi Bani Khalid, a turquoise natural pool up to two meters deep. Don’t forget to bring your bathing suit: it’s time to unwind in the pleasant natural pool and relax with a good book under shady palm trees.
In the afternoon, you will drive back to the camp and have the chance to experience the sunset from an unforgettable perspective: You will climb a lonely dune and can watch the unique play of colors in peace and quiet - a dream come true.

Today your itinerary takes you further towards the Hajar Mountains. On your way there you will make a stop in Ibra, a medieval village, and learn more about Omani hospitality during lunch with a Bedouin family. After refreshments, set off for Sinaw and visit the original souks there. Follow the smell of fresh spices and incense in the air of the winding alleys and watch Bedouin and Omani families selling their goods.
Afterwards, continue to Birkat Al Mauz, an abandoned mud village at the foot of Mount Jebel Akhdar. You will walk past date plantations and water channels (Aflaj) to the old village center and experience one of the four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Oman, the Aflaj system.
In the breathtaking nature of this green oasis, enjoy a delicious picnic prepared for you by your guide.

The city of Nizwa is the spiritual center of Oman - and also its capital until 1789. Come by and explore the traditional souk, known for its silverware and Bahla pottery. But the souk also offers everything from antiques to numerous spices and fresh meats. Stroll along individual stalls and sample dates and Arabic coffee.
A mandatory experience for everyone getting to know Oman trip is a visit to the fortress of Nizwa. Climb the observation deck and enjoy a great view over the entire city and the surrounding mountains - just spectacular!
Afterwards, you will visit the castle of Jabrin. Built in the 17th century and lovingly renovated, it is considered the most beautiful in all of Oman. Feel transported back to a bygone era and see how people used to live here.
Another highlight of your Nizwa tour is the UNESCO-listed Bahla Fort, the oldest and largest of all Omani castles. Take in the magnificent fort and don’t forget to take some great photos.
At Bait al Safa, you will dive back into the life of an Omani family for an authentic experience where you will learn about the lifestyles, customs and traditions of the Omanis.

After breakfast at the hotel, pack your bags for the very last time and start the day with a walk through the picturesque mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen. Stroll through its traditional alleys and experience multi-story mud houses surrounded by a fascinating mountain landscape.
You will leave your 5-star mountain resort and pass the small village of Bilad Sayt. Far away amidst the protective mountains of Rustaq, the village embodies a traditional charm and sense of rural solitude. Green date palms and terraced fields define this beautiful region.
