The first day begins after landing at Colombo International Airport with a transfer to your first hotel, the luxurious Residence by Uga Escapes.

Colombo is a great city. With a population of over three million, here you will not only experience the country's largest city, but also the political, cultural and economic center of Sri Lanka.
Enjoy this lively city flair during a leisurely stroll - first-class restaurants and modern stores, which you would otherwise search for in vain on the rest of the island, are lined up here. If you have enough time, you should not miss the Galle Face Green. This is the largest and most elegant promenade in Colombo. The 500-meter-long green strip stretches along the coast and is lined with palm trees. Several restaurants and a small beach invite you to linger.
Other attractions worth seeing are the Gangaramaya Temple, which is one of the most important temples in Sri Lanka, the Viharamahadevi public park and the Independance Memorial Hall, which was modeled after the Capitol in Washington in 1946.
Would you have guessed that Colombo has one of the most important transshipment harbors in all of Asia? Tip: The best view of the harbor area is from the Harbour View Restaurant, located on the fourth floor of the Grand Oriental Hotel.

Today's destination is the fortified town of Galle in the south of the island, about 2.5 hours away. You will check in at your hotel and then visit the important Galle Fort. Feel as if you have been transported to another world - built by the Dutch in the 17th century, you will experience the largest European fortress construction in Southeast Asia, which has also been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988. Stroll along the mighty ramparts, enjoy the magnificent views of the clear waters of the Indian Ocean and explore the small cafes and luxurious villas that complete the colonial-style atmosphere.

Located in the south of the country, Yala National Park boasts one of the densest populations of leopards in the world, in addition to crocodiles, wild boar, elephants and numerous monkeys. Getting up early today is definitely worth it - at dawn, you will take part in an exciting safari. You will drive towards the colorful sunrise and, with a little luck, you can marvel at nocturnal animals that are just returning from their nightly hunt.
Additionally, Yala National Park is also known for its colorful variety of birds. About 300 species of birds make their home here - most of them are migratory birds escaping the cold and spending the winter here in the national park.
After enjoying a fresh lunch, another safari awaits you in Yala National Park. Just don't forget to pack your camera! Keep an eye out for Sri Lanka's magnificent wildlife and marvel at the fascinating animals as they stand in close proximity before you - pure adrenaline!
Tip: The months of February to July offer ideal conditions to observe leopards in the wild. Deer, birds and crocodiles can be seen up close especially from October to December at Yala National Park.

Trincomalee is located in the northeast of the country. Its name means "the temple". Wondering where the name comes from? Legend has it that one of the largest Hindu temples in Asia was once built here under Tamil rule.
Although the small coastal town is not one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka, a trip to Trincomalee is always worth a visit due to its eventful past. You will check in at your hotel and then drive to the royal city of Anuradhapura, which is about 45 minutes away. Many centuries ago, Anuradhapura was one of the largest cities in the world and the first capital of the country. You will visit well-preserved ruins and temples of the ancient Sri Lankan civilization, which are known far beyond the country, with your guide.
Of course a visit to the famous Mahabodhi tree is also essential. But what exactly is so special about this fig tree? This is the holiest tree of Asia, also known as the "Tree of Enlightenment". It was under this tree that Gautama Siddharte became the Buddha in 528 BC.

Stroll through the royal garden - here you will learn about one of the most important chapters of the country's history.
After reaching your transfer vehicle again, continue to Polonnaruwa. Known as the second capital of Sri Lanka, serving as the royal seat from 1070 to 1288, large stupas, countless Buddha figures, park and palace grounds, and historic buildings are reminders of a time long gone.
