Destination

Africa

Windhoek - Waterberg - Etosha National Park - Damaraland - Swakopmund - Namib Desert - Sossusvlei

Welcome to Namibia, home to vibrant cities where people are excited about the future while remaining connected deeply to their rich, cultural past. After landing at the Windhoek International Airport, pick up the rental car that will take you to many places for the next two weeks.

Now nothing stands in the way of your unforgettable honeymoon! Drive about 30 minutes through the hilly savannah landscape until you reach your first hotel. When Count von Schwerin commissioned castle Heinitzburg for his fiancé, Margarethe von Heinitz, in 1914, love was his inspiration, and elegance was his achievement. The romantic hotel offers a dazzling view over Windhoek's city centre and is the perfect place to spend the first night of your honeymoon adventure.

To ensure that your honeymoon is truly unforgettable, we have organised a first-class, romantic dinner for you in the hotel's wine cellar. Exquisite delicacies in a romantic atmosphere sum up your first night in Namibia.

Best travel time: Namibia is a destination that can be visited year-round. For safaris, the best months are from June to October at the end of the dry season. Since the animals can't find water in the bush, they can often be found at the watering holes.

Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at the restaurant, "Leo's at the Castle," before heading north-east to the Waterberg Plateau. Your next accommodation welcomes you to its intimate, luxurious, and romantic atmosphere.

Located on a high terrace on the Waterberg slopes, the chalets offer an idyllic view over Kalahari’s endless savannah. Each chalet has a private balcony with a plunge pool, inviting you to relax and unwind in complete solitude.

In the afternoon, a local ranger will take you on an exciting hike through the Waterberg Plateau. The tour will give you an insight into the wedding culture of the Herero. Try on a traditional wedding dress and have yourself photographed in it!

Today you will travel further north to the private Ongava Game Reserve, bordering Etosha National Park. Nestled in a unique environment, stay at the luxurious Ongavo Lodge. Get to know the dense wildlife population and the enchanting atmosphere during unforgettable safaris.

Etosha National Park, Namibia's most magnificent wildlife sanctuary, is the highlight of every Namibia trip. The park's highlight is a salt pan so significant that astronauts can see it from space!

The national park is also known for its abundant wildlife that gathers around the waterholes, guaranteeing game sightings when visiting! The waterholes attract animals like zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, and springbok. Sightings of the legendary Big 5, lions, black rhinos, and elephants are frequent, while the elusive leopard hides in the lush vegetation areas. These incredible animal encounters will be memories you and your loved one will never forget.

Don't forget to look up because you will have many opportunities to take photos of the different bird species' national park!

After the exciting safari, relax in your private chalet and let the lodge's excellent service spoil you.

Two nights with half board in Etosha National Park, Namibia

Today is new beginnings. During your delicious breakfast, appreciate one of Africa's most magical moments: its purple sunrise. Continue your honeymoon adventure and head west into Damaraland.

Damaraland is one of Namibia's most scenic areas, a vast, untamed, ruggedly beautiful region that offers a more adventurous challenge. Namibia has the second-lowest population density of any country on earth, but in Damaraland, the country's least populated area, there are even fewer people. There are neither fences nor borders, just vast horizons, unspoiled valleys, and impressive mountain ranges. The stony landscape is home to desert elephants and many other animals.

In about four hours, you will reach your next accommodation, the Mowani Mountain Camp. Nestled ideally between enormous granite rocks, stay in one of the lovingly decorated chalets that absorbs into its surrounding landscape, making it one with the history of life in this prehistoric area. A fresh bottle of sparkling wine and a fruit platter await you in your private chalet when you arrive. End your evening with a romantic dinner around the campfire.

Plan your day according to your wishes! If you want to unwind at the camp, lounge by the pool or relax on your private deck and enjoy the spectacular surroundings. Are you craving more adventure? Then use the day to explore the enchanting surroundings! Visit the Damara village and learn all about its tradition and culture, or take a day trip to Twyfelfontein and discover its wealth of ancient rock engravings and the wonders of the Organ Pipes.

Alternatively, we offer an elephant and dune drive with a knowledgeable guide, searching for the rare desert elephants!

Overnight with half board in Damaraland, Namibia

Enjoy your last breakfast in Damaraland, then drive along the Skeleton Coast to the popular vacation resort, Villa Margherita, in Swakopmund. Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Namib Desert, this charming village is known for its well-preserved Art Nouveau buildings from the German colonial era. Its coastal location permits a pleasant climate more than anywhere else in Namibia! In the summer, water temperatures barely rise above 20°C, so it's the perfect place to unwind from your exciting safari days.

Swakopmund's colonial landmarks include the Swakopmund Lighthouse (21 meters high) and the Mole, an old sea wall (300 meters long). Insider tip: During sunset, visit the Mole with a bottle of champagne for a romantic start to your evening.

Travel time Hotel Damaraland - Hotel Swakopmund: approx. 4 hours / 326 km

Overnight stay with breakfast in Swakopmund, Namibia

Start your day with a lovely champagne breakfast! Indulge in the fresh delicacies, and get ready for an exciting day with your loved one.

There is so much to discover in Swakopmund and its surroundings! How about an excursion to Walvis Bay? This harbour town is only 30 minutes away and offers many fun activities. Watch the fishing boats arriving freshly caught fish or visit the lagoon of Walvis Bay, one of the most critical wetlands in southern Africa! Don't forget to look up because the Walvis Bay lagoon is home to thousands of migratory birds, like pink flamingos and tern colonies.

Overnight stay with breakfast in Swakopmund, Namibia

After breakfast, you will leave Swakopmund and drive to the Namib Desert. Known as the oldest desert globally, it stretches for more than 1,900 kilometres along the Atlantic coasts of Angola, Namibia, and South Africa. Despite its dry and lonely appearance, the area you pass through on your way to your next lodge is home to various animals, plants, insects, and birds.

Your next accommodation is located in the middle of a 7,000-hectare private nature reserve and borders the Namib Sand Sea, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can look forward to a unique stay in the desert by the sea! We guarantee lots of privacy and luxury in a magical landscape you will never forget; views of the surrounding mountains and the grazing springboks are utterly unique.

Travel time Hotel Swakopmund - Hotel Sesriem: approx. 4 hours 30 minutes / approx. 369 km

Overnight with half board in Sesriem, Namibia

Set your alarm clock early and drive to the Sossusvlei before sunrise to witness the sun's first rays and spectacular play of colour on the majestic dunes. Delicate oranges and robust reds alternate on the peaceful horizon. This unique atmosphere is the perfect start to your day!

The Namib Desert stretches along the Atlantic Ocean and unites many different landscapes that you can't experience anywhere else in the world. Enjoy the peaceful silence and the 100% clean air. How about a little action on your honeymoon? On an exciting Land Rover Safari, we'll show you that the desert crawls with life. Up close, you will see springboks, ostriches, zebras, and leopards!

Two nights with half board in Sesriem, Namibia

Today you’ll drive back to Windhoek and do any last-minute shopping before leaving tomorrow. How about a visit to the colourful and lively Oshetu market? Immerse yourself one last time amongst the Namibia locals.

In the evening, we recommend a visit to Joe’s Beerhouse, a popular city institution. Locals say if you haven’t been to Joe’s Beerhouse, you haven’t really been to Windhoek. For a relaxing end to your trip, watch the romantic sunset at one of many sundowner spots; e.g., Avis Dam, Small Dome, or Lovers Hill.

Sadly, today you part ways with the mystical lands of Namibia. Reflecting on all of your unique honeymoon memories, you can use the remaining hours to participate in the lodge's activities. For example, go on a game drive, hike in the desert landscape, or go mountain biking through the picturesque surroundings.

Before hopping onto your flight back home, you will have the opportunity to look for some final souvenirs in downtown Windhoek. We hope you had an unforgettable time in Namibia and return home refreshed, with beautiful photos and great memories.
