Papua New Guinea is one of the world’s last pristine paradises with nature you’ll see nowhere else. There are over 700 languages spoken here, and hardly a single indigenous group resembles the other. In addition to the culture and tradition, the wildlife developed without external influences due to the area's long isolation. The enchanting bird world will take your breath away! You will even lay your eyes on the most unique, most beautiful bird of them all: Bird of Paradise. With a little luck, you’ll be one of the few people to see this natural treasure.
Upon your arrival at Port Moresby International Airport, a friendly staff member will pick you up and take you to Mount Hagen for your flight. After the short domestic flight, you will finally reach Mount Hagen! The country's fourth-largest city is best known for the annual Mount Hagen Show, where native people from the most remote valleys come here to present colorfully decorated dances.
Today’s destination is Rondon Ridge Lodge, approximately 30 minutes drive from Mt. Hagen. The lodge is on the edge of the Wahgi Valley and offers a beautiful view of the picturesque valley.
Three nights at Rondon Ridge Lodge with full board, Mount Hagen, Papua New Guinea (A)
United on the third largest island in the world, the indigenous groups speak about 800 different languages - that's about 20% of the world’s languages! Living completely isolated, the island’s mountain tribes first contacted the outside world in 1930. Even today, they still maintain their oldest traditions. You will meet barefoot locals, women carrying their children in traditional handkerchiefs tied to their backs, and farmers who sell their goods on the side of the road.
In addition to all the well-preserved traditions, the breathtaking nature developed without external influences. Get to know the island’s crevices and incredible views during small guided hikes. Papua New Guinea landscapes are unique because of its many mountain ranges and the development of several rare birds and animal species. There are ten different species of birds of paradise around the lodge.
