Upon arrival in Muscat, your personal chauffeur will already be waiting to accompany you to your first hotel in the city. Spend the rest of the day as you wish - how about a walk along the beach promenade, a visit to the city centre with its little cafés and restaurants, or relaxing by the pool at the hotel? Upon request, and depending on the time of arrival, we can organise a city tour or a small picnic right by the sea (additional charge).

Best time to travel: The best time to travel for a stay in Oman comprehends the periods from September to December and January to May. These are the most pleasant months for a trip, for Oman has a very warm climate during the European summer months.

1 night at Somerset Panorama Muscat **** with breakfast in Studio Deluxe, Muscat, Oman

In the morning, your round trip begins and you will set off along the panoramic road. A short detour along the exciting road to the tranquil Wadi Al Arbiyeen is worthwhile. Your journey continues to the Bimah sinkhole, which is fed underground with seawater. Follow this road and you will automatically reach Wadi Tiwi, one of the most beautiful dry river valleys in the country. Shortly after, you will reach Sur, a town that was known as an important hub for trade across all oceans. Visit the Dhow Shipyard, where even today the typical Omani wooden ships are built according to ancient custom.

Another adventure we can recommend and book for you in the evening: meet aquatic turtles (optional). In the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, guided turtle watching tours are offered in the evening. Thousands of turtles come to this main nesting site every year to lay their eggs on the beach. To protect the animals, both beaches are strictly monitored by rangers.

After a relaxed breakfast, you will drive towards the Wahiba Desert. Before you feel sand under your wheels, we will accompany you on an excursion to the famous Wadi Bani Khaled. Lined with lush green, shady palm trees, you have the opportunity to picnic or take a refreshing dip in the water-filled natural pools. After a short relaxation and cooling down, the adventurous part of the day begins. Enjoy the Jeep ride through the breathtaking high dunes. After your arrival at the camp, climb a lonely dune for the indescribable sunset to enjoy the unique play of colours in absolute tranquillity and far away from the stress of everyday life.

1 night at 1000 Nights Camp *** with breakfast and dinner in an Armeer tent, Wahiba Desert, Oman

Early in the morning, you will make your way to the mountains, where you will make a stop in Nizwa. Nizwa was the capital until 1783 and is still the headquarters of the Imam. Explore the traditional souk, known for its beautiful silverware and Bahla pottery. This place is not touristy, but characterised by Bedouin and Omani families of the region. As you stroll through the alleys here, close your eyes for a moment and take a deep breath. Can you smell the different spices and the incense? For a better view of the city as well as the surroundings and a wonderful bird's eye view, the Nizwa Fort is the place to go. On the way to Jebel Shams, we have another little highlight for you. Visit Al Hamra, a village that has been restored by the government to show visitors how Oman's population lived in earlier times. In the evening, Jebel Shams, Oman's highest mountain at 3009 metres, awaits you. From here you have a breathtaking view over the mountain scenery and can take spectacular snapshots of the deep rock gorges with your camera.

Start the fifth day of your round trip with a walk through the picturesque mountain village of Misfat Al Abriyeen. It is famous for its traditional alleys and beautiful field terraces as well as the multi-storey houses built of clay. Afterwards, we recommend the adventurous drive and crossing of the western Hadjar Mountains towards Muscat. Visit small villages again, such as Bilad Sayt, which has kept its traditional charm and the feeling of rural solitude as well as being far away, amidst the protective mountains of Rustaq. The settlement of the mountain oasis is said to date back to pre-Islamic times and has been inhabited for over 3000 years due to the existence of water sources. Clusters of green date palms and a patchwork of terraced fields characterise the beauty of this area. We will continue to the next highlight of this trip, the Wadi Bani Awf, which lies in a deep rocky gorge. The lush green date palms form a wonderful contrast to the rugged mountains surrounding the wadi - a popular photo motif. On the other side of the mountain you will reach Nakhal, where you have the opportunity to explore the 350-year-old castle and enjoy an unforgettable view over the mountainous surrounding countryside.

After the visit, your adventurous round trip ends and your personal guide will drive you back to Muscat, where you may relax for a few more days.

The Somerset Panorama Muscat is centrally located in the lively business and diplomatic district of Bawshar, making it the perfect base for sightseeing and shopping. Stylish studios and flats with one or two bedrooms and a kitchenette await you in the hotel above the Panorama Mall shopping centre. End your day at the hotel's pool, café, and restaurant. For your active hours, many leisure facilities and sights, such as the Al Ghubra Beach and the large Sultan Qabus Mosque, are in the direct vicinity.

In the picturesque town of Sur, known as an old fishing village, lies the Sur Plaza Hotel. Built in the Omani Bedouin style, the camp has 30 Bedouin tents, all furnished with an Arabian carpet. This family-friendly hotel is located in the luxurious resort complex of Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah, directly on the Gulf of Oman.
