A rainbow is simply magnificent. But you know what's even better? A moonbow.
A visit to the falls is always worthwhile, especially on full moon nights when you have the rare chance to see a lunar rainbow.
The phenomenon occurs when the moonlight refracts in the droplets above the waterfall.

The Victoria Falls at night: spectacular experience against a unique backdrop
Everyone knows a rainbow, but have you ever seen a moon rainbow? You can do so at Victoria Falls during the full moon, when the moon casts its radiant light into the mist of the falls, creating a rainbow. This is a phenomenon that can only be experienced in a few places in the world.
You can only experience the Lunar Tour on a few days a year, always during the full moon. You can see the Lunar Rainbow or Moonbow when the water level is high (especially in March, April, and May) and the moon is full, when the moonlight shines through the water mist and creates a rainbow. Exceptionally, you can also visit the falls at night at this time and marvel at the natural phenomenon. The gorge ensures that you can still see the rainbow even when the moon is very high in the sky. The higher the moon is, the deeper the rainbow shines in the gorge. This natural phenomenon is rare, as the brightness of the moon is usually not sufficient for a rainbow - only when the moon is full. To the human eye, lunar rainbows appear white, as no colours are recognised by night vision. However, the lunar rainbows are clearly visible in long exposure pictures. So don't forget to bring your camera and tripod!
