One of Indonesia's biggest hidden gems is just a 30-minute speedboat trip from Bali. The hidden paradise, where tourism is still in its infancy, is dotted with steep limestone cliffs, clear turquoise-blue bays and rolling green hills. Known among Balinese as the "Island of Demons," the island offers the perfect getaway for the explorers among you who like to get off the beaten tourist path.
Similar to Bali, the best time to visit Nusa Penida is from May to October. During the rainy season from November to March there are often heavy showers.
Let your guide pick you up in Bali and bring you to the beach of Sanur. Here begins your 4-day adventure to the unknown island. After a short speedboat ride, you will disembark in Toyapakeh, from where you will be transferred to your booked hotel.
After check-in, spend the rest of the day as you wish. We recommend a side trip to one of the dream beaches in the immediate vicinity. It is only a few minutes by bike to Crystal Bay. Crystal clear water and a white sandy beach lined with coconut palms promise a tropical experience.
! night including breakfast in Desa Sakti, Nusa Penida
After breakfast today, you will start exploring the rocky west coast of the island. You will hike through the rainforest of Tembeling until you come to a natural pool, located right by the sea. It was formed over the millennia by the power of water alone. Treat yourself to a little cool down before continuing on your way.
By car you will be taken to a picnic on the Banah Cliffs. Enjoy lunch with unparalleled views of the ocean.
In the afternoon, you will discover the "Broken Beach", an emerald green bay with turquoise waters. The bay owes its name to a hole in the cliff through which seawater flows. Nearby is Angel's Billabong, a natural pool of sharp volcanic rock. At high tide the mighty waves crash into the basin - at low tide it is as smooth as glass.
After this incomparable experience, we will take you back to your accommodation, where you can spend the rest of the day at your leisure.
1 night incl. breakfast in Desa Sakti, Nusa Penida
Today takes you to the east coast of Nusa Penida. You will start your day with a visit to Gamat Bay. With a little luck, you will be the only guests on the beach. The rather unknown bay offers you crystal clear water and beautiful hard and soft corals. See for yourself and explore the underwater world during a snorkeling tour.
Continue to the Hindu temple of the island, located in a large cave in the town of Sampalan. Goa Giri Putri is an important pilgrimage site also for Balinese Hindus from the mainland. The cave temple can only be reached through a small, very narrow passage, which has to be climbed after about 100 steps. The way pays off! With a little luck, a ceremony is taking place right now.
Your guide has a lunch box for you today, so you can have your lunch break as you wish during the day.
In the afternoon, you will visit Cepuk Village. One of the few places on the island where the making of traditional cloth and sarongs is still maintained. Your last stop for today is Atuh Cliff, on the southern edge of the island, from where you can see neighboring Lombok. If you wish, you can get to Atuh Beach along a staircase. The walk is a bit arduous, but worth it!
In the late afternoon, you will return to your hotel.
1 night incl. breakfast in Desa Sakti, Nusa Penida
Spend the morning as you wish until check-out. Your guide will take you to Toyapakeh, from where you will take the speedboat back to Bali. Arriving in Sanur, you will be transferred to your hotel in Bali or to Denpasar airport, depending on the program.
