Lean back comfortably and let lively cities, green steppes, and lonely desert villages pass you in a luxurious atmosphere.

Every Wednesday around 16:30, the royal journey through Rajasthan begins at Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi. After completing all formalities, hop aboard the luxurious Palace on Wheels and receive a welcome drink. The courteous staff will take you to your luxurious compartment called khidmatgars. Make yourself comfortable in your cabin and unpack your bags as the train slowly sets in motion. After freshening up, enjoy dinner in the dining car.

The 14 ivory-colored wagons, all named after former rulers of the state, accompany you on your unique journey through the color Indian cities. Feel like a king aboard the Pace on Wheels and experience the dream of royal luxury with ornate ceilings, colorful carpets, and luxurious furniture.

Explore the individual wagons and introduce yourself to fellow travelers in the bar after a delicious dinner. You can end the first evening of your trip with first-class drinks.

Welcome the new day aboard the Palace on Wheels and enjoy a rich breakfast. Around 8:15, Jaipur’s 2.63 million inhabitants will welcome you to its bustling capital. Because of its pink-painted houses and city walls, it’s known as the “Pink City.” The busy Jaipur streets are commonplace for rickshaws, tuk-tuks, and cows. An air-conditioned bus will take you to the Hawa Mahal, the Palace of the Winds. The five-story building boasts a red sandstone facade and honeycomb-like perforated windows illuminate beneath the morning sun.

Then, take a short detour to the city’s oldest museum, the Albert Hall Museum. Discover the impressive monument’s various Indian artifacts, historical documents, ancient sculptures, and metal figures.

Next on the schedule is a visit to the magnificent city palace! The former royal residence is now a walk-in museum, which the royal family partly still uses. Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is an observatory just a short walk away from the city palace. Its highlight is the 30-meter high sundial which can show the time within two seconds.

Then drive to the Amber Fort, an impressive palace complex perched on a mountain. ON the back of a decorated elephant, you can master the ascent to the very top and enjoy the stunning views. Have lunch, and let the wonderful panorama captivate you. Stroll through the beautiful palace courtyards and discover the numerous wall paintings. You can also visit its magnificent interiors and explore the small museum, which houses the world’s most giant cannon on wheels.

Around 18:00, you’ll set off in the air-conditioned bus to the Palace on Wheels. After an eventful day and many new impressions, a tasty dinner awaits you in the dining car (you also have the option to have dinner at a luxury hotel in Jaipur).

A must-see is the famous Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur. In the early morning hours, around 5:45, you’ll arrive at the 392 m² national park — home to 300 different bird species, various animals, and an impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site fortress from the 10th century. The park is best known for its Bengal tigers and houses other unique animals like big cats, hyenas, sloths, bears, Indian gazelles, and monkeys. Have your camera ready to capture these precious wildlife moments!

You will then return to your train for a delicious breakfast while the wheels slowly chug onward to Chittorgarh. Sit back, relax, and let the panorama views of the colorful landscape enchant you.

When you arrive in Chittorgarh around 16:30, the luxury bus will take you to Chittorgarh Fort, an imposing fortress near the city. The journey up the mountain is an experience in itself: you can find small and large memorials of deceased city heroes on both sides of the narrow streets.

The majestic fortress plays an essential role in Rajasthan and Northern India. Immerse yourself in a world full of stories and legends, and see how close heroism and defeat can be.

Have your camera ready because there’s much to see! Marvel at ruins, various temples from the 8th century, and the two towers, Kirti Stambh (Tower of Glory) and Yaya Stambh (Tower of Victory). And that’s not all! You will also have the opportunity to experience a fascinating sound and light show, live in the magnificent fortress.

You will then be taken back to the luxurious Palace on Wheels, where you can look forward to another delectable dinner in the dining car.

In the early morning hours, the Palace on Wheels will leave Chittorgarh around 7:00 to Udaipur, about two hours away. Fortify yourself with a hearty breakfast and then head into downtown Udaipur. It’s also known as the Venice of the East because of its romantic flair, beautiful gardens, island palaces, and dreamy lakes. This harmonious city is different from many in India! How about visiting the green oasis, Saheliyon-ki-Bari, better known as the Garden of Virgins? Marvel at its fountains, marble art, and lush green spaces in the relatively arid location.

Afterward, enjoy a delicious lunch at the luxurious Fateh Prakash Hotel.

Well refreshed, board a boat, and cross Lake Pichola. Keep your camera close because you’ll experience Udaipur’s most stunning sights up close. The luxurious five-star Lake Palace Hotel is a highlight of the trip because of its unique world-class service in the middle of Lake Pichola. Also, don’t miss the fascinating city palace. Parts are open to the public today and extend over the lake, consisting of a collection of different buildings built over time. Various towers, impressive domes, and numerous balconies make this palace unique. Climb to the upper terrace of the palace and soak in fantastic city and lake views.

After exploring the imposing city palace, you’ll head back to the Palace on Wheels. Return to your compartment with lovely photos, and in the evening, let the dining cart spoil you with yet another delicious dinner.

Good morning from the Palace on Wheels! Let the first sun rays wake you up, and start the day with a replenishing breakfast in your sleeping car compartment. Today your journey will take you to Jaisalmer, the desert city of Rajasthan. In the night, you left India’s green oasis and passed the Thar desert’s steppe-like landscapes, several Nomad caravans, and small villages. Marvel at the golden yellow landscape from your window and see children waving to the train.

Around 9:30, you’ll reach Jaisalmer and see its imposing medieval fortress towering up into the horizon from afar. Of course, a visit to the fortress is an absolute must! The triangular fortress is unique because 2000 people still live within the walls. Discover how the houses, small hotels, restaurants, and palaces are so close to one another, and stroll through the narrow streets to find souvenirs.

The impressive Havelis are also beautiful to see. The majestically furnished houses stood for wealth and well-being, decored with the most delicate carvings. Some of the most popular Havelis in Jaisalmer include the Nathmal Ki Haveli, the Patwon Ki Haveli, and the Salim Singh-ki. Come closer and look at the ornate windows and balconies’ harmonious works of art.

After eating a tasty lunch at the Palace Hotel, an unforgettable experience awaits you: embark on a camel ride through the dunes of Sam. Awaken your thirst for adventure and uncover the undisturbed beauty of the surrounding desert landscape on the back of a camel.

At 17:30, a transfer will take you back to Palace on Wheels. Freshen up and put on something night because tonight, you’ll dine out! A delicious dinner and cultural program await you at the Palace Hotel.

Before you know it, your alarm clock will ring, and a new day will warmly greet you! Enjoy breakfast while the train leaves the golden yellow desert and arrives at your next destination: Jodhpur.

Have you ever seen a city with light blue facades? Jodhpur is India’s blue city and welcomes you to its unique surroundings.

The air-conditioned bus will take you to the city center. Explore the small old town and stroll through its small alleys. The imposing fortress towers high above the city, where you can soak in stunning views and admire the interiors converted into a museum. Stroll to the ornate Jaswant Thada, a white marble-colored memorial that stretches out on a black basalt rock and offers a beautiful garden to linger.

Before you go back to the Palace on Wheels at 15:30, you can look forward to lunch at the City Hotel. In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner on the luxury train.

Early the following day, you’ll wake up in Bharatpur, where you’ll set off for the 29 m² bird sanctuary in Keoladeo National Park. The bird paradise is home to over 364 different bird species, including 117 migratory birds from Siberia and China, which you can see especially between October and February. Cranes, pelicans, peacocks, and cormorants are just a few of the birds that you can experience here — an absolute must for bird lovers.

Back at the Palace on Wheels, you can replenish with a rich breakfast as the train slowly starts moving toward Agra.

Agra is about 55 kilometers from Bharatpur and is famous because of the Taj Mahal. You will reach the industrial city around 11:00 and hop off the train to explore the popular destination.

Your first stop is Agra Fort, also known as the Red Fort because of its red sandstone. It was initially a military building and became more majestic over the years. Now it’s reminiscent of a 16th or 17th-century palace complex! Immerse yourself in the Mughals world and catch a glimpse of the public and private audience halls of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. A stroll through the inner courtyards is also highly recommended! You can enjoy a spectacular view of the stunning Taj Mahal from here.

Recharge with a lunch at the Palace Hotel before visiting the7th Wonder of the World, the Taj Mahal.

Just like a fairytale, India’s most famous building extends out from behind a water basin like a dream. The Mughal Mughal Sha Jahan had this tomb made in honor of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to her 14th child. After about 22 years, this unique “declaration of love made of marble” was completed by 20,000 craftsmen and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.

Around 20:00, you will enjoy your last dinner together in the stunning setting of the Palace Hotel. Sip on a glass of wine and end your journey full of new impressions and unforgettable moments in the Palace on Wheels in a cozy atmosphere.

Today it’s time to say goodbye! In the morning, around 7:30, you will arrive at Safdarjung Railway Station in Delhi. Pack your bags and say goodbye to your fellow travelers.
